Circuit Court - NTDP Offers Online, Off-Ice Summer Conditioning

While a lot of us see summer as light at the end of the tunnel in a long hockey season, there are few times that are more conducive to training for that long season. The National Team Development Program, whose mission is to develop the best 16- and 17-year-old hockey players in the country, suggests circuit training, and Ken Martel, the program's director of scouting, hosts an exclusive two-circuit series of eight equipment-free excersises guaranteed to work you out.

Off Ice Space - NTDP's Drills Teach Stick Skills

After a month of weekdays,'s 20-part video series devoted to off-ice drills that the National Team Development Program uses to keep the skills of players progressing when they aren't on the ice, comes to a close with the 21st and final segment. Each drill, narrated by NTDP assistant coach Ken Martel, builds on the one prior, and "Balance Board," is the grand finale. It requires a pair of 2 x 4s, one stacked perpendicularly on the other while the player stickhandles.
